 Cold anglers rewarded

Cold anglers rewarded

24/07/2008 10:08:00 AM
THE Great Lake is still fishing well with anglers who are prepared to battle cold, wet and windy conditions being rewarded with Rainbows in great condition.

Garry Glitter Squidgies fished slow have been a real winner. I would also give a Pumpkinseed 3" Minnow a try - Yep Tassie Tackle have a great colour that fishes well.

The occasional squid is being caught off Wynyard and Sisters Beach, try fishing in close along the rocks.

A spline jig with a whole pilchard is very effective this time of year and brings in squid that might not respond to a jig.

If you are jig fishing and not having any luck, try changing colours until you find one that works.

With less than two weeks until the fresh water fishing season opens, the heavy rain we have had is very promising.

Bait fishing the shorelines early should be productive, as will fishing the shallows with a wet fly or soft plastic.

Ashley Spinners always work well, especially on choppy days when there is some food around.

Freshwater fishing licences for the new season are now available.

If you have received a renewal notice, or you need a new licence, feel free to call in and we will take care of it for you.

Tight lines.
