Pairing up to pull big crowds

25/08/2008 10:41:00 AM
THE Launceston Tornadoes have indicated they will consider the Thunder women's proposal to play all Coastal SEABL women's games as double-headers with the men's team.

In previous years, SEABL women's teams who travel to Tasmania have played in Launceston on Friday or Saturday night and on the Coast the other night, or on Sunday.

The Lady Thunder has struggled to attract significant crowds to its games that are not held as double-headers with the men's side and wants the majority of games to be on Saturday night.

Thunder vice-chairman Rick Purton said the proposal was put forth at a meeting yesterday between representatives of all the state's SEABL clubs and Basketball Tasmania.

"It was put to Launceston (to let the Thunder have all Saturday night games) and they were surprised at how much it meant to us."

The Tornadoes will consider the proposition.
