IF YOU ever wanted a healthy way to make the Guinness Book of Records - here it is.
You don't need to do anything weird, or have incredible brain power.
All you need is about 15 minutes to take part in a large group walk on Monday at 2pm.
Fit Clubbers are invited to help head honcho Royce Fairbrother as he boosts the ranks of Devonport Primary School's effort.
Prep to Grade 6 pupils will step into spring and hopefully the Guinness Book of Records as part of the Tassie Giant Walk effort.
Mr Fairbrother is also chairman of the Premier's Physical Activity Council, which has organised the Tassie attempt to break the world record for the largest simultaneous walk from multiple locations.
"The idea is to break a record and encourage more Tasmanians to be active," Mr Fairbrother said.
Devonport Primary has invited parents and guardians, extended family members and other school community members to get active and participate in this unique walking event with them. That means you too, Fit Clubbers.
The starting point will be the basketball court at Devonport Primary for a 2pm start.
Participants are required to sign-in prior to walking the 1.25km circuit.
Latrobe Primary School is holding a community walk to start from Station Square along Sheean Walk to Bells Parade. Participants can register at the school from 1.30pm and then walk to Station Square in a group.
Latrobe Mayor and Fit Club member Mike Gaffney will meet the walkers at Station Square at 1.45pm for a 2pm start.
To break the record Australia needs over 231,635 people to walk at the same time at various organised venues.
Other North-West walks will be held at Brooklyn Primary, Fern Glade, North Terrace, Parklands High, Romaine Reserve, Stella Maris Catholic Primary, View Road Shorewell Walking Track, East Devonport Primary, Eastern Shore Community House, Hillcrest, Don walking track, Miandetta Primary, Dial Regional Athletics Track Penguin, Sassafras Primary, Sheffield town centre, Somerset Primary, Strahan Primary, Ulverstone Primary and Yolla District High.
