MORE than three-quarters of Tasmania's hard-working SES volunteers are unhappy with the level of funding - which influences recruitment success - provided by government.
The SES Volunteer Survey result follows a dip in volunteer numbers and an imminent television recruitment campaign.
According to the recent survey, 75.3 per cent of volunteers "were not happy about the level of funding the SES organisation received".
And 61 per cent were disappointed with the level of funding their unit received.
SES director Andrew Lea said yesterday that while funding issues were always a concern, the State Government recently provided $100,000 for volunteer uniforms.
Mr Lea said he believed work and family pressures, rural decline and mobile workforces had led to the drop in numbers.
Police and Emergency Management Minister Jim Cox said the government had budgeted $100,000 since the survey was undertaken.
"It is extremely important that the State Government continues to support the work of all our volunteer emergency service workers, and I am pleased we are providing additional funding to help them perform their work that benefits the entire community," Mr Cox said.
