THEY say good things come in threes.
Last night John Earl, Elders Burnie sales consultant, was announced the winner of The Advocate's New Zealand His and Her Experience Getaway, and he is hoping he is on a winning streak.
"My heart's still pounding," he said after accepting the prize.
"I had never won anything in my life until last Saturday when I won the Burnie Dockers wheelbarrow, so I wonder what else is coming."
Having recently returned from a trip to New Zealand's South Island, Mr Earl said he and his wife had been keen to return to explore the North Island.
"We both just loved it last time we were there so it will be great to head back to see more," he said.
Last night The Advocate paid tribute to its hundreds of Coastal advertisers.
Almost 300 people flocked to High Tide Restaurant in Devonport for a cocktail party and the announcement of the winner of The Advocate's New Zealand His and Her Experience Getaway.
The Advocate general manager Rod Tremayne said the evening was about giving something back to the newspaper's loyal advertisers for their support throughout the year.
The annual event has been held in Burnie for the past three years.
Mr Tremayne said holding the cocktail party in Devonport demonstrated the newspaper's commitment to serving all corners of the Coast.
"The Advocate is a regional paper and hosting the event in Devonport reflects our commitment to the whole region," he said.
"We pride ourselves on being committed to both our readers and our advertisers and we remain prepared to stand up for issues affecting the Coast."
